Bechler lived in Amer­i­ca from 1806 to 1836. While there, he taught at the sem­in­ary in Naz­a­reth, Penn­syl­van­ia, and worked in Mo­ra­vi­an church­es in Phil­a­del­phia, Penn­syl­vania; Sta­ten Is­land, New York; and Li­titz, Penn­syl­van­ia. He al­so com­posed, with one of his most im­port­ant col­lect­ions be­ing:
