Born: Sep­tem­ber 3, 1862, Lon­don, Eng­land.

Son of bar­ris­ter G. W. Bell, Mau­rice grad­u­at­ed from Hert­ford Coll­ege, Ox­ford (BA 1884, MA 1887). He was or­dained D. 1885, P. 1886, and in 1904 be­came Vi­car of St. Mark, Re­gent’s Park, Lon­don. He con­trib­ut­ed three trans­la­tions and an orig­in­al hymn to The Eng­lish Hymn­al in 1906.
