Traveling Bachelor of Cambridge University (BA 1850, MA 1860), Blunt took Holy Orders in 1851. From 1856 to 1860, he was Incumbent of Crew Green, Cheshire. In 1860, he became Rector of St. Luke’s, Chelsea. He wrote his hymns for festivals at St. Luke’s.
