Brackett worked for a while for the Ol­i­ver Dit­son Com­pa­ny, and lat­er taught in Chick­er­ing Hall in Bos­ton. He was the mu­sic ed­it­or of the first Christ­ian Science Hymn­al in 1892, contributing 99 tunes.
