Bridaine was ed­u­cat­ed at the Je­su­it coll­ege of Avignon, and the Sem­in­a­ry of the Roy­al Miss­ions of St. Charles of the Cross. He was fa­mous as an or­a­tor, with a ve­ry un­con­ven­tion­al, spon­tan­e­ous preach­ing style. In his day, he was one of the best known men in France, and the Ca­tho­lic En­cy­clo­pe­dia has a de­tailed ar­ti­cle on him. His Cantiques Spirituels was pub­lished in 47 editions.
