Raised in a Quak­er fam­i­ly, Bur­ling­ham be­came as­so­ci­at­ed with the Ply­mouth Breth­ren around 1863. Ma­ny of her re­li­gious po­ems and trans­la­tions ap­peared in the Brit­ish Her­ald.
