Died: De­cem­ber 1, 1940, Buf­fa­lo, New York.

A Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal min­is­ter, Copeland served 22 churches in western New York state over the course of 42 years. He founded five churches, four of which were in Buffalo. In 1892, he be­came secretary of the Meth­od­ist Union, and in 1918 Syracuse Un­i­ver­si­ty gave him an honorary STD de­gree. He retired in Buffalo in 1919.
