Died: May 12, 1887, Bloom­field, New Jer­sey.

Son of George Duf­field, Jr., Samuel grad­u­at­ed from Yale Coll­ege in 1863. In 1866 he was li­censed, and in 1867 or­dained, as a Pres­by­ter­i­an min­is­ter. He served at church­es in Ber­gen, New Jer­sey; Ann Ar­bor, Mi­chi­gan; Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois; Al­too­na, Penn­syl­van­ia; and in 1881 be­came pas­tor of the West­min­ster Church, Bloom­field, New Jer­sey, where he stayed un­til his death.
