Died: May 22, 1915, at his home “Eastwood” in Han­o­ver Coun­ty, Vir­gin­ia.

Evans was con­vert­ed in ear­ly life and joined the Meth­odist Church. He was ed­u­cat­ed at Ran­dolph-Ma­con Coll­ege, which he en­tered in 1869. He was li­censed to preach in 1870, and joined the Bal­ti­more Con­fer­ence of the Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal Church, South, in 1872, but was im­me­di­ate­ly trans­ferred to the Vir­gin­ia Con­fer­ence. Af­ter var­i­ous ap­pointments in this Con­fer­ence, he trans­ferred in 1892 to the Pro­test­ant Epis­co­pal Church. As of 1915 he was Rec­tor of an Epis­co­pal Church in Birm­ing­ham, Al­a­ba­ma.
