Farrant served at the Chap­el Roy­al off and on from about 1550 un­til his death. In 1564, he be­came Mas­ter of the Chor­ist­ers and or­gan­ist at St George’s Cha­pel, Windsor. He is re­mem­bered as a play­wright, a com­pos­er of serv­ic­es and an­thems, and for con­vert­ing the old Black­fri­ars mon­as­tery to a the­a­ter.
