Buried: The Un­i­tar­i­an Church in Charles­ton, Charles­ton, South Car­o­li­na.

Gilman grad­u­at­ed from Har­vard Coll­ege in 1811, and was a tu­tor there from 1817 to 1819. In 1819, he be­came pas­tor of a Un­i­tar­i­an con­gre­ga­tion in Charles­town, South Car­o­li­na, where he stayed un­til his death. He made con­tri­bu­tions to the Christ­ian Ex­am­in­er, the North Amer­i­can Re­view, and the South­ern Quar­ter­ly, and al­so wrote:
