Gisborne was ed­u­cat­ed at St. John’s Coll­ege, Ox­ford, where he was 5th Wrang­ler of the year (BA 1780, MA 1783). He served as per­pe­tu­al cur­ate of Bar­ton-un­der-Need­wood, Staf­ford­shire, and lat­er Pre­ben­da­ry of Dur­ham. His works in­clude:
