Grum served as pastor of the Kaighn Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church in Camden, and at the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Gloucester City, New Jersey. In addition to his musical gifts, Grum was also a talented artist; his large painting of The Old Rugged Cross was presented posthumously to the Bible class at the Kemble Methodist Episcopal Church in Woodbury, New Jersey, in 1932.
