Grum served as pas­tor of the Kaighn Av­e­nue Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal Church in Cam­den, and at the First Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal Church in Glou­ces­ter Ci­ty, New Jer­sey. In ad­di­tion to his mu­sic­al gifts, Grum was also a tal­ented ar­tist; his large paint­ing of The Old Rugg­ed Cross was pre­sented post­hu­mous­ly to the Bi­ble class at the Kem­ble Meth­od­ist Epis­co­pal Church in Wood­bu­ry, New Jer­sey, in 1932.
