Hassler stu­died mu­sic un­der his fa­ther, and with Andrea Ga­bri­ele in Ven­ice, Ita­ly. He served as or­gan­ist for Count Oc­tav­i­an Fug­ger of the famous Fug­ger family in Augs­burg, Ger­ma­ny; at the Frau­en­kirche in Nürn­berg; and for Prince Christ­ian II of Sax­o­ny at Dresden.
