Died: Oc­to­ber 5, 1868, 20 Dean’s Yard, West­min­ster, Eng­land.

Hawkins was ed­u­cat­ed at Bal­li­ol Coll­ege, Ox­ford (BA 1842), and for a while was a Fel­low of Ex­e­ter Coll­ege. On tak­ing Ho­ly Or­ders he be­came Cur­ate at Bur­wash, Es­sex; sub-lib­rar­i­an at the Bod­lei­an Lib­rary, Ox­ford; Cur­ate of St. George’s, Blooms­bu­ry; min­is­ter of Cur­zon Cha­pel, May­fair, Lon­don; Pre­bend­ary of St. Paul’s; and Can­on of West­min­ster. From 1838 to his death, he al­so served as sec­re­tary to the Society for the Pro­pa­ga­tion of the Gos­pel. His works in­clude:
