Huntington grad­u­at­ed from Am­herst Coll­ege in 1839, and Cam­bridge Di­vin­i­ty School in 1842. He served as a Un­i­tar­i­an min­is­ter in Bos­ton, Mass­a­chu­setts, un­til 1855, when he be­came Pro­fess­or of Christ­ian Mor­als and Un­i­ver­si­ty Preach­er at Har­vard. In 1859, he was or­dained an Epis­co­pal priest; he was for some time a rec­tor in Bos­ton, and 1869 be­came Bi­shop of Cen­tral New York. His works in­clude:
