Milgrove was pre­cen­tor and/or or­gan­ist of the Count­ess of Hunt­ing­don’s church, Bath, around the time his Six­teen Hymns were pub­lished, about 1769. Ac­cord­ing to the Bath di­rect­o­ries at the time, he was al­so a “toyman,” or own­er of a “fan­cy shop” in Bond Street there.
