Buried: Ho­ly Trin­i­ty Episcopal Church, Spring Lake Road, Fruitland Park, Florida (near Lees­burg).

Newell grad­u­at­ed from Woos­ter Coll­ege, Ohio, in 1891, then at­tend­ed Prince­ton and Ober­lin Sem­in­ar­ies. Af­ter ord­in­a­tion, he be­came pas­tor of Be­thes­da Con­gre­ga­tion­al Church in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois. In 1895, he be­came as­sist­ant su­per­in­ten­dent of the Moody Bi­ble In­sti­tute in Chi­ca­go. He was al­so known for his Bib­li­cal com­ment­aries on Ro­mans, He­brews, and the Book of Rev­e­la­tion. New­ell moved to Lees­burg, Flor­i­da, in 1910, and for some time pas­tored the Pres­by­ter­ian church there.
