Ramsey was for ma­ny years a well known teach­er near Bourne­mouth. A pro­li­fic com­pos­er of part-songs and pi­a­no­for­te pieces, he al­so wrote hymns and car­ols, and on mu­sic­al the­o­ry. He re­tired in 1916. In the last year of his life he was in poor health, but he or­gan­ized and con­duct­ed a chor­al so­ci­e­ty in the vil­lage of Chi­chest­er.
