Third son of John, first Earl Russ­ell, Rol­lo was ed­ucat­ed at Christ Church, Ox­ford (BA 1873, MA 1878). A Fel­low of the Roy­al Me­te­or­o­lo­gic­al So­ci­ety, his hymns ap­peared in his Break of Day (Lon­don: 1893).
