Educated at Trin­i­ty Coll­ege, Dub­lin, Ire­land, Walk­er grad­u­at­ed in 1790, and was elect­ed a Fel­low on tak­ing Ho­ly Or­ders in 1791. Se­ced­ing from the Church of Eng­land, he re­signed his Fel­low­ship in 1804 and found­ed a sect called the “Walk­er­ites.” He es­tab­lished a cha­pel at Staf­ford Street (Dub­lin?) and “The Church of God.” He moved to Lon­don in 1819, but lat­er re­turned to Dub­lin.
