Batchellor, a Quak­er, wrote child­ren’s songs and mu­sical in­struct­ion books. By 1920, he was a widow­er, liv­ing with his daugh­ter Mar­i­on and her fam­i­ly in Bal­ti­more, Ma­ry­land. By 1930, they had moved to Wash­ing­ton, DC. His works in­clude:

• The Tonic Sol-fa Mu­sic Course for Schools, with Thom­as Charm­bu­ry (Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois: S. R. Win­chell & Co., 1884-1886)
