Ed­u­cat­ed at Ex­eter Coll­ege, Ox­ford, Chope served as Cur­ate of Sta­ple­ton (1856); Sher­borne, Dor­set (1858); Up­ton Scud­a­more (1859); and Bromp­ton (1861); & Vi­car of St. Au­gus­tine’s, Queen’s Gate, South Ken­sing­ton, Lon­don (1865). He was one of the orig­in­at­ors of The Choir and Mu­sic­al Re­cord, and was for some time pro­pri­e­tor and as­sist­ant ed­it­or of the Li­ter­a­ry Church­man. His works in­clude:
