Died: December 1, 1940, Buffalo, New York.
A Methodist Episcopal minister, Copeland served 22 churches in western New York state over the course of 42 years. He founded five churches, four of which were in Buffalo. In 1892, he became secretary of the Methodist Union, and in 1918 Syracuse University gave him an honorary STD degree. He retired in Buffalo in 1919.
