Farrant served at the Chapel Royal off and on from about 1550 until his death. In 1564, he became Master of the Choristers and organist at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. He is remembered as a playwright, a composer of services and anthems, and for converting the old Blackfriars monastery to a theater.
