Son of a rec­tor, Ro­se­n­i­us was ne­ver or­dained, but was an in­flu­en­tial Lu­ther­an preach­er. He ed­it­ed The Pi­e­tist (1842-1862), and made ex­ten­sive con­tri­bu­tions there­to. His wife was Aga­ta Ro­sen­i­us. Oscar Ahnfelt had a large role in pop­u­lar­iz­ing Carl’s hymns.
