Educated at Har­row and Trin­i­ty Coll­ege, and Cam­bridge (LLB in hon­ors 1841, DD 1867), Jen­ner was or­dained in 1843 and held cu­ra­cies at Chev­en­ing, Kent; St. Col­umb, Corn­wall; St. An­tho­ny, Corn­wall; Leigh, Es­sex; and Bras­ted, Kent. He was ap­pointed Vi­car of Pres­ton-Next-Wing­ham, Kent, in 1854, and first Bi­shop of Dun­e­din in 1866. In 1870, he re­turned to his for­mer po­si­tion at Pres­ton-next-Wingham; he re­signed his Bish­op­ric in 1871.
